چکیده

The fuzzy set is one of the powerful tools used to describe an uncertain environment. As well as quantifying any potential return and risk, portfolio liquidity is taken into account and a linear programming model for portfolio rebalancing with transaction costs is proposed. The level of return that an investor might aspire to, the risk and the liquidity of portfolio are vague in an uncertain financial environment. Considering them as fuzzy numbers, we propose a portfolio rebalancing model with transaction costs based on fuzzy decision theory. An example is given to illustrate the behavior of the proposed model using real data from the Shanghai Stock Exchange. 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

The Impact of Transaction Costs on Rebalancing an Investment Portfolio in Portfolio Optimization

Abstract—Constructing a portfolio of investments is one of the most significant financial decisions facing individuals and institutions. In accordance with the modern portfolio theory maximization of return at minimal risk should be the investment goal of any successful investor. In addition, the costs incurred when setting up a new portfolio or rebalancing an existing portfolio must be include...

Mean-variance portfolio rebalancing with transaction costs and funding changes

Investment portfolios should be rebalanced to take account of changing market conditions and changes in funding. Standard mean-variance (MV) portfolio selection methods are not appropriate for portfolio rebalancing, as the initial portfolio, change in funding and transaction costs are not considered. A quadratic mixed integer programming portfolio rebalancing model, which takes account of these...

optimal Rebalancing for Institutional Portfolios

WtNTER 2006 I nstitutional money managers develop risk models and optimal portfolios to match a desired risk/reward profile. Utility functions express risk preferences and implicitly reflect the views of fund trustees or directors. Once a manager determines a target portfolio, maintaining this balance of assets is non-trivial. A manager must rebalance actively because different asset classes ca...

Rebalancing an Investment Portfolio in the Presence of Transaction Costs

The inclusion of transaction costs is an essential element of any realistic portfolio optimization. In this paper, we consider an extension of the standard portfolio problem in which transaction costs are incurred to rebalance an investment portfolio. The Markowitz framework of mean-variance efficiency is used with costs modelled as a percentage of the value transacted. Each security in the por...

Stochastic Models for Portfolio Management with Minimum Transaction Lots

In this paper, we consider the problem of a decision maker who is concerned with the management of a portfolio over a finite horizon. The portfolio optimization problem involves portfolio rebalancing decisions in response to new information on market future prices of the risky assets. Rebalancing decisions are manifested in the revision of holdings through sales and purchases of assets. We assu...
